Over at the Cafe de la copperbadge someone made a comment after the season finale of House. I had a problem with what was said, but couldn't put a finger on what it was so didn't say anything about it. Figured out what it was the other day (months later, par for the course). The comment was that Cameron loved House because he needed it. He does need it, but that's not the point. I don't think that's why she does it, or why most of us do it. We love a lot of damaged people, and you guys being my friends and all kind of proves that.
Not all of us who are good are also nice. And even being nice has limits. Wilson loves the broken ones because they need it more, saintly guy that he is. :T
Some of us are like Cameron, though, or how I see her as a character. We love the screw-ups because they're the ones we can reach.
We're not angels, with a perfect love unswayed by earthly flaws. We're the always-human jumble of good and evil that can't love things that are too perfect. We couln't identify with anything pure or trust it, only admire it. But other people as broken as us are fair game.
